280E W123 starting problem when slightly warm
If I do a couple of short trips from cold (eg: drive down to the local shop and make a couple of stops), then perhaps on the third start attempt the motor will crank, but there is no spark at the distributor. I then have to wait, perhaps 10-20 mins..then it will start normally. The temperature gauge usually has to be between 80-90 degreesC. When the engine is up to full operating temperature, the problem does not occur.
Is this a coil problem or a coil sensor of some sort that is causing this problem?
Can anyone help me, as this is an extremely annoying problem..otherwise the car is running and starting perfectly, despite its age and high mileage(440,000km)
