Hi from the UK - Mercedes C240 Warm starting problem
Hi, I'm a new member here ... I found this site when seeking advice on a problem my Mercedes is developing. It's a C240, first registered in 1998 and has 105,000 miles on the clock. Overall it is fantastic, but lately it has developed a a problem when I try to start it. It only fails to start (a) when it's warm, and (b) when it's been standing for a few minutes. If I start it immediately after switching off she always fires up as normal.
My garage recomended replacing the fuel filter, which we did about 3-weeks ago, but today the same fault returned. Really weird as it starts perfectly when cold, and even when the problem occurs, it fires up again after cooling-down for about 10-minutes.
Any help / advice would be greatly appreciated.
Kind Regards,
Peter

Thanks
Many thanks for your reply - I've since scanned through some of the threads ... you're right, it looks like I'm not alone. Does anyone know how much I should expect to pay to have this rectified?
Kind Regards,
Peter

Thanks again.
Had the sensor replaced today and it seems to have sorted the problem. So thanks again for your help. For information the cost was £72.32 for the part plus £46 labour, total £118.32 at my local HiQ (Carterton, Oxfordshire - HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!)
I've just given her a test run to get her warm and she has started perfectly. Interestingly, she also seems to be running more smoothly, or perhaps I'm imagining things.
Now I have three jobs left to do on her:
1. New condensor to get the air-conditioning working again.
2. Paintwork on the front bumper and bonnet which are both badly stone-chipped.
3. The icing on the cake would be to get all the dashboard LCDs working again. The clock always has a few bars missing.
Overall I think she is in good order for 105,000 miles and 11-years old ... My pride and joy ...
