Default 1971 MB 280SE Sitting for 15 years... Help!

Hello All! I am a new member to this group, and a new owner of a MB 280SE which has been sitting for 15+ years in a detached garage. I have no experience in acquiring a car such as this and 'restoring' it (if that's really the right term).

The tires are flat, the car is in moderately rough shape from sitting for so long, but that's just cosmetic. Also, the price is so low, I can put about $1500 into the car to get it driving safely before I begin to wonder 'What have I done?'

My immediate concern is where do I begin with just trying to get the engine started? What things should I be addressing immediately prior to trying to start the motor, then if we get the engine started, what next?

I have the help of a good friend who has re-done some antique autos, but his experience is domestic autos, 1965 and older. He is willing to assist me in this endeavor as his time would allow. Any help or direction from any of you MB experts would be appreciated!

In addition, this car is not intended to end up as a show car, but something fun to drive that I have put my own time into, and taking a great deal of personal pride in repairing, maintaining, and enjoying.

Hi, I got a few year late here, but what's the "up to date status"? I could help you...
