1971 280SE... Been sitting a few years
MB Gurus!
I am fixing to sell my personal car and have been toying with getting a MB diesel for a weekend driver. But then i thought why? I have a 1971 280SE sitting out at my shop. It was my grandfathers car. My dad and I towed it up from Florida probably 10 years ago and its been sitting in the shop ever since. I thought it was having injection problems but Dad seems to think it was running fine. So why he has been letting it sit is anyone's guess. Anyhow, where to start? I am going to get a new battery, drain the tank and lines, probably pull the injectors and get some fresh fuel flowing up to them then have the injectors cleaned. Fresh fluids all around (coolant, oil, brake etc then tires) if i can get it started anyway.
Anything else you can think of off hand i may run into? i am a little concerend about how the tranny is after sitting up so long? it surely needs a fluid and filter change as well.
