Default C220 '96 oil change and now not starting

Hi all - new car(to us) and new to the forum. 1996 C220 (4 cyc, 130K miles).
Just aquired the car with no history (for the kids to learn in) and did an oil and filter change( black oil dropped out!) tred to start the car but failed to fire (cranked over ok). Guessed the need to reset (?) and used the sequence found on here - press 0, turn key to 2, etc etc. But still failed to start, the red/green lights on the rear view mirror flashing, but still engine doesnt fire - arggghhh.
Doors were closed and oil added and not above full mark.
Any any other suggestions please????
Thx
Andrew

You must have bumped a wire off on the engine while changing the oil. Changing oil should have nothing to do with starting the engine. Open the hood and look for a hose or a wire disconnected.

Thx Fred, poked around in the engine bay and "seemed" ok, found out a new feature that the door key has a large button and when pressed inside the car the red/green lights on the mirror light up. After some pressing and keying the car started! Need to get a owners book and work out what the lights and the key have going on!
Thx
Andrew
