Scratching my head: my 190e died while my wife was driving, engine dramatically slowed and died in 5 seconds while freeway driving. Restarts after just a few minutes just fine, then does it all over again. First time it happend she said the "oil light had been on for a few days". I checked the oil level after the first shutdown, DRAMATICALLY low. It holds oil, oil pressure gauge shows pressure, car runs fine while it is running, no smoke or other trouble. Drove it the next day, same problem of shutting down after a few miles, and now the battery needed a jump. The alternator pumps out 13+ volts, battery was load tested and passed. Hum. HUM. Any ideas? Is the battery problem related or just coincidental? Distributor cap and rotor appear visually ok. Initially I was thinking fuel delivery problems: filter, pump, accumulator, pressure regulator. But now the battery thing has me flummoxed.
Could it have run low on oil, gotten hot and fried a sensor/relay?
