Default 006 CLS 500 Trunk Won't open, dead battery

2006 CLS 500. Trunk is where the battery is located and the battery is dead (car in storage). I took the key off the FOB and the physical key turns the lock and I can hear it click, but the trunk will not "release" or open. Any suggestions? 1.) can I jump the battery via a positive terminal somewhere or via the starter? 2.) the 2nd battery under the hood is accessible but has no effect on the trunk release. 3.) the "latch" on the trunk has no movement so I fear the latch is mainly an electrical latch release button. The physical key turns and clicks (in the trunk lock) but no release. Help me please. Thanks!!

Take the hard key out of the fob an put it into the key tumbler for the trunk ,turn it counterclockwise til it won't turn no more an pull the trunk lid release. .(leave the hard key in the counterclockwise position while pulling the latch handle for trunk )
