Default Vacuum Modulator?

Where exactly is the vacuum modulator located on my 1983 240d. My automatic transmission is shifting a little late and from what I've read everywhere, a slight adjustment to the modulator should fix it. Anyone have a pic they can share of where modulator is under the hood?

Also, under normal circumstances, when should my transmission be shifting from gear to gear? Right now 1->2 is around 20-25mph. 2->3 is around 40mph. and 3->4 isn't shifting until just over 60mpg. They all feel a little late to me... like the engine is having to rev too hard to get to the shift points.

Any advice is welcome!

Before making any adjustments check your vacuum supply to the modulator valve.
It may be weak.
Possible swollen, cracked or broken vacuum line.

I feel stupid asking, but where is the vacuum modulator on my transmission. I've searched high and low and can't locate the dang thing! Any pics anywhere that show the location?

i had the same problem. i replaced these taps i am putting a link up for. there is a little assy. were a couple cables go into right above the valve cover head. take it all apart and clean it while replacing the tabs, if not the whole valve depending on your condition.

there is also a daspot thing in line with the vacuum system that i believe is right outside the brake booster assy. there is another link for it. mine was faulty as well and it is kindof like a mini regulator.
check all your vacuum lines and i would just replace them. my car ran way better after these couple things.
