I have a 78 300D and my sunroof only opens 1/4 of the way then it stopsI think that the motor in it is fine (but not quite sure). What can i do to get it to open and close all the way and to check and see if the moter is fine? I would really like to get it to work would really like to use it when driving the car. Can anyone help me?

 

Not an expert on sunroofs by any stretch it may be the cable. That is whatcauses problems first!

I finally got it to work right. You were right, it was the cable but the guiding rail that comes from the motor to the back of the sunroof tray were bent a bit somehow where it screws to the tray. So I went and got them both from the junkyard for like $15. Put it in as well as greased it w/ white lithium grease, (called a dealer and said we could use that instead of getting something special from them). Now it works perfect.
