M110 vs. M130 for W115 swap?
I've tried everything and I'm pretty certain my 1975 OM-617 non turbo is dead. So I'm casting about for another engine. The car is a bit of a beater so I'm not really going to be fussy about originality. Another diesel would be great but available engines always seem to be W123 which require some alterations (I'm less willing to alter a nice engine. Funny). Someone not too far from here (Boston is not to far from Rhode Island) has a stash of gas engines for sale and I'm thinking one of these might make for an easy conversion.
Which is the better performer? Twin cam or single cam? Probably depends a lot on the year.
Does it matter if the engine was built for a W114 or a W123 like it does with the diesels (there's also a W123 280 SE parts car not to far from here)? Other than engine choices, what's the difference between a W114 and a W115? Mine's a W115 but I like the W114 engines better.
They all seem to be carburated. I dig fuel injection but then you have to make sure you have the harness and the CPU and all that so I guess carbs are ok. One of them is a stick shift which would be cool but again, only if it came with all the bits and pieces that go with it.
I've been searching and haven't found much info on such a swap but I can't be the first can I?
Oh, and if you live not too far from Road Island and have a decent engine I'm all ears. I'd also be willing to sell the little darling.
