HELP..advice on Mercedes 1996 diesel
Hello:
I am in the market for a 1996 Mercedes E300 diesel, non turbo ? I saw one with 122,000 miles, in excellent condition...
I was wondering what should I look out for ?
1- timing belt, chains, oil filter, fuel filter, ? Should these have been changed ?
2- any inherent problems in this year 1996 ? ANy issues ?
3- how are the engines ? Any specific issues.?
Any help on how to spot problems and what to look for , will be deeply appreciated..
thanks..

RE: HELP..advice on Mercedes 1996 diesel
I have not heard of any major issue on E300...I believe is one of the best car mb made (W210). All of what you've already mentioned need to be checked and since you mentioned that it is in excellent condition, I figured everything is working fine. I'd pay attention to the A/C though because MB's blower regulator design in 1996 was inferior that's the reason they redesigned this feature in 1997, but not to worry though, there are websites that'll helpyouDIY with clear pictures for your walk through. well, good luck on yourE300 and have a fine one.
