Greetings - a quick question please...On my 83 300D (207K) the glow plug light is delaying, maybe 3 to 5 seconds before it comes on after turning on ignition. Any thoughts as to possible reason for this? Many thanks for your feedback...

One of your glowplugs is probably on the way out, or has already gone bad. There have been many discussions on this issue in past, and Search will yield prior threads on this forum with tons of information. In a nutshell, you need to check three things (1) glowplugs - they should have resistance of .1 - .9 ohms if good. Use your ohmmeter to check -a reading of zero or infinity on the meter means a bad gp (2) check the 80 amp strip fuse - it sometimes forms a hairline crack that is difficult to detect, or corrosion can form at the screw terminals (3) check voltages going into and out of the gp relay. Also, if you car still has the old loop-type glowplugs (unlikely, but possible) you'll want to upgrade to the newer pencil type gp from Bosch.

Thanks Drrty240D - I actually looked for a 'search' icon before posting my question, and missed it - I see it now, and will also search for previous topics...but meanwhile, I'll follow your suggestions and let you know what I discover...thanks again.
