Hello MB Forum,

Could someone please tell me; when I turn on my key to activate the "in dash" glow plug light, why the light does not come on.First thing in the morning when I engage the ket to starttheengine (after waiting 15 sec) the car starts but not like (as quickly) as it used to when the light came on andwent off.I have check all the fuses. Is there a test that I can perform to check the light and or check if the glow plugs are actually glowing when the key is turned on? Thanks..........Lovedabch in Va. Beach

 

wat model ist,start dely is glow plugs,to make sure if glow plug relay ok you need to hear a click noise when ignition turned on ,after turned on wait 20 seconds you sholud hear a low sound click,if click heard relay ok,replace glows

 

Hi NAZ, Thanks for your reply. My Benz is a 1977 (123 body) with a 5cyl (300D) engine installed in it. I am the original owner. It has 538,000 + miles on the odometer. Car runs great and looks great. Thanks..................Lovedabch

Hi NAZ, It was "original" until last February when a guy in a van broadsided me. I had to replace both let side doors. It was at that time that I decided to repaint th entire car and repair a few small rust spots. The guy who painted it (used to work for the local Mercedes body shop) did an outstanding job. It is pretty much pristine now.......................Lovedabch

 

It is a good idea if you have it serviced.It maybe the light that doesnt work..I think there is no problem in the Mercedes distributor cap and other parts because you could still have it started.

 

Hello Redmansioner, Thanks for your reply. I will be having my Benz serviced next week. I will ask my mechanic to ck the light at that time. I don't think it has anything to do with the distributor cap; my Benz is a Diesel and therefore does not have a distributor cap.................Lovedabch
