ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS with blower motor 300d
i have a newly aquired 84 300 d turbo it has about 160k on the odometer.the blower motor would come on and then turn off after about 30 seconds and then not be able to turn on again until after i restarted car engine.i have another 300d car and tried switching out the climate controls because the buttons wouldnt stick on it like the other one.after replacing it the blower motor would turn on and then the climate controls would make some clicking noises and then turn off and not come on again until restarting engine.i have not gotten the freon checked, but i do have a cheapy a/c pressure checker and when the a/c button is pressed it goes to 0 and then when the blower motor shuts off it goes to the high side of the guage about a quarter from the stop of the high side.i am uncertain if the compressor is working.it seemed like it was coming on but i really didnt hear a load on the engine.any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.the climate control seems to work from the other car as far as activating the blower motors.thanks again for the suggestions.

OK I WILL TRY looking at the blower motor.you are talking about the brushes on the magnet of the blower motor?is the the blower motor inside the cabin?
thanks

To get to the blower you remove the panel under the passanger side of the dash board and then you will see a housing that you remove 4-6 screws from the bottom of to get the blower out. It takes more time to remove the panel than to get the blower out so it is easy. There is a connector plug that you seperate then you can take the blower out and work on it out side of the car.
If it's not the brushes (and i bet it is) jump from your battery to the Blower Motor and see if it runs well. Sometimes super old BMs will draw too high amperage initially and then give up. Also could indicate worn wiring that overheats due to load.
