the cause of the squeak?
greetings,
just bought a 92 300d w/195K. one of the first things i want to tackle is a squeak coming from the rear passenger side. it squeaks fairly constantly when going down the road - not just over bumps, and sometimes when you get in before driving/put pressure on bumper.
from looking at repair records, a merc. tech noted that the knuckle bushings needed to be replaced. after looking in my bentley manual and not finding anything called "knuckle," i phoned him, and he pointed me to the about 4-5 inch piece that seems to have a cover of sorts on it that runs from just by the differential to the bottom of the wheel assembly. after inspecting, it seems the bushing closest to the differential is cracked.
anyone had similar noise or problem? want tobe as confident as i can that this is the cause.
if it is, is this something anovice to moderately skilled sort could do?
many thanks,
raymond
