Default Body Parts-Aftermarket

I have a 1984 300 CD and need to purchase some new fenders and rear quaters. I was told to purchase fenders from mercedes only but, the price is $$$$. Does anyone have experience with aftermarket body part vendors they could point me towards. My understanding is that some aftermarket parts will only fit if you take a couple sticks of C4 and a sledge hammer if your lucky. I am looking for a good fit and decent quality body part without the mercedes price tag $$$$$$. Any recommended vendors would be appreciated.

Thanks
Pat

Call your insurance company and find out which manufacturers they recommend. The old days of badly fitting aftermarket parts are over, I have heard. But, one must choose carefully, still.

I bought an aftermarket fender for my 300sd. It lasted 3 years before the cancer set in. It could have been due to a lousey paint job, but I'm going to replace it with an OEM this winter....
