Default Another AT shift issue: 1980 300SD

I have noticed that my transmission has begun to slip during the 2-3 shift.

The behavior improves/changes when I bypass the small vacuum valves mounted on the engine valve cover.

What are these switches supposed to do - mine are probably leaking vacuum.

Are these a junkyard or dealer item?

Thanks,
Jim Jim Jim
