87 TDT problem
Hi,
I'm having a strange problem with my 87 300 TDT. It seems during acceleration, when the tach hits around 3500 or so, the engine cuts off power but quickly regains it. It isn't a sputter, but as if fuel has been cut off. I changed both filters twice, and have had the tank screen replaced within the last 1000 miles. I did notice the valve cover vent was spewing out, and the hose was completely off spewing oil all over the place.
Could this be related to a loss of power, something to do with pressurizing the crank case?
Also, the air filter is clean.
Any help is appreciated.

It's also called the valve cover breather assembly. Pressure from the engine is released through this hose and some oil will come through the assembly. It is probably a dealer part. Probably around 100$ or so. The gasket plug that goes into the valve cover usually becomes brittle, so take care when removing it. The breather assembly has a plug that goes into the gasket plug and leads to the air cleaner under the filter. Obviously, don't let plastic or rubber bits go into the valve cover.

I just took a look at my car. The only thing coming out of the valve cover is black rubber hose about 14 ~18 inches long, kinda like a PCV hose. IS that all there is to it, just the hose?
Does it look like this:
