87 300d turbo trap oxidizer recall?
Another Question for the pros:
I have been told my 87 300d turbo was a model that had an issue with the trap oxidozers, and that MB will replace it for free if it hasn't been done.
Is there an easy way for me to check if this has already been done? Or will it just be easiest to just take it to a MB dealership and let them look? I have the typical power loss of an older turbo diesel with a bad turbo and have real slow accelleration up hills.
any ideas are greatly appreciated.

AMAZING!!! Thank you so much for this critical info!
I now have an appointment with Phil Smart to have my trap swapped out next week. Did an engine flush and a purge this weekend and am sure my main power sapping problem is just the plugged up trap, and will go away when it's replaced by a pipe.
I love this car so much right now, so seriously easy to work on and it makes alot of sense.
mr forcedinduction sir,i owe ya one man!

Well the guys at the shop were surprised to get a 10 yr old warranty job in, but my car has much better accelleration now. From a stop its still a slug, but getting from 30-60mph is much less hassle now and alot less tailgaters on my *** now.
Will still be trying to bb in the EGR hose as well as going back over all my vacuum/pressure lines.
But I got a good start on getting this ride up to par... thanks so much for all the help!
