Hard to describe noise past three weeks. This is an 87 300D which is an occasional driver. New brakes about 8 months ago, perhaps 2000 miles on those.

Noise is a groan or scraping noise from left front. Most frequently at parking speeds with wheel turned to left. Has also happened in reverse both during braking and for a moment after stopping while backing down a steep driveway. This noise is hard to describe. It sounds like scraping, but not a metal on metal squeal sound. No warning lights or signs of difficulty braking. Any Ideas? Thanks

 

Try using some brake grease on the edges of the pads, but not directly on the rotor or pad's braking area. It should tell you on the little grease packet.I had the same thing happen with day old pads b/c it didn't get greased, butthe sharp noisewent away after a week.

 

Are the pads MB brand? I agree with above poster. Some shops never apply the grease. Aftermarket pads are sometimes a harder composition which can lead to noise.

 

The noise isnot a squeal nor gringing...its like a RRRfff noise like 2 card boardscraching together, before it was only when turning to the left,now I get the noise even when driving strait..Any ideas????Thanks

 

chec to see you backing plates behind your rotor is not touching the wheel or rotor.

 

Is your left front wheel rubbing the front lower part of the plastic inner fender. Mine has rub marks on it from sharp turning.
