87 190D 2.5 Turbo automatic not shifting
I recently purchased this car with 220k miles and it drove home fine (80 miles) and the next morning it would not shift. It stays in 2nd gear but can also go into reverse.
Fluid level is good and clean. The car has been sitting for some time per the PO.
All the vacuum hoses were inspected and I replaced a couple that were broken. I also replaced the switch manifold since one roller wheel was broken but still no joy.
The kickdown switch below the acclerator pedal seems to click as it should but I do not hear anything happen at the transmission when I do this manually with the ignition switch on (and the engine off). The fuse is ok.
I have tried flooring it and it does not down shift...after about 3 or so thousand rpms it just flares.
Could it be the kickdown solenoid and/or the relay? If so, where are they located and how can I test?
