Default 84 300d gauges

just brought a 84 300d and the fuel gauge and temp gauge read higher and fuller in relationship to each other the faster I go and the longer I drive. They also bounce around a lot. Car shows no sign of overheating but the gauge is way wonky

Hello and welcome to the forum! That could be a sensor malfunction. Have you checked them?

Default Try running a new ground from the gauges

My 240 was doing the same thing. I attached a ground wire on each of the two screws that stick out of the back of the instrument panel from the temp and fuel gauge and attached the other ends to the cluster of other wires grounded on a screw behind the dash. Completely solved the issue. Let me know if you need a better description. I can also provide some pictures if that helps.

Default Gauges

I’ll try that this week. Thank you. I hate not having gauges
