Well an ex roommate of mine has a 79 Diesel Mercedes with about 300k miles. Later today my friend (no it isn't me, not doing this out of embarassment) put water and antifreeze into the container for the transmission fluid. He tried to crank the engine and nothing happened. The car is now sitting down on Charles St. in downtown baltimore. My basic question is, is this car finished? Is it possibly to drain the transmission fluid and just replace it with the dot-5, or whatever is needed, fluid since it hasn't been driven?

 

Removed the dipstick and put antifreeze and water in there.
