Default 1983 300D Auxilary Fan Questions - Help!

Hi All,
Yesterday my 1983 Mercedes 300D started running hot. Today I noticed the auxilary fan was not working. I checked the fuse and it has juice going through. I even noticed the fuse was hot with a cold engine and key off... Is that normal?

Before I get one on EBAY (Does anyone have one on the list?) can I run wires directly into the fan plug to test it? Will that cause any harm? Anything else I should check?

Suggestions are greatly appreciated!

You should not have a hot aux fan fuse if the key is off. Yes, you can run a + and - wire from the battery direct to the aux fan at it's plug to test. Brown wires in a benz are always negative.

Common problem with aluminum fuses on copper (brass) fuse holders.
Someone on ebay was selling copper fuses for Mercedes.
Clean the connectors well. After 20+ years they have the right to have some dirt on them.
