I'm new to this forum and just wanted to get some advice on a problem I've experienced lately with my 1978 300CD. When the car is cold and just started, it will not engage the reverse. I can go forward with no problems. Once the car has warmed up, the reverse works fine. I'm wondering what could be causing this. Thanx.

 

Have you tried changing the fluid and filter?

 

First thought low fluid, second thought, restricted trans filter. When working correctly these trans delayed like a 70's era ford into reverse cold, but the delay was maybe a second or so.
