Default Sound System for 300SD

Greetings - I am in the process of reviving a 1981 300SD, which I have owned for 11 years, but has been garaged up to recently for 4 years. The current sound system, which is an aftermarket Kenwood, only picks up 2 AM stations, so it's time to upgrade.

I am interested in getting a CD receiver with MP3 input and probably new speakers.

Any suggestions???

Thanks in advance.

Kenwood makes amazing Head Units and their 2008 line-up is extroadinary stuff. Simple, classy, and amazing performance and as far as Navigation goes they are hands down the best screens. Their 7100 has been redone and is hands down the best, its an in-dash double din with a 7" touch screen. For more simple applications the Kenwood KDC-MP538U is great too. As far as speakers it would all depend on your taste of music. Let me know what you listen to and I would be more than happy to give you some more input as far as speakers.
have a good day

Thanks, Kyle. I mostly listen to Smooth Jazz and Contemporay Christian music.

As I understand it, Mercedes used some kind of odd-sized euro speakers in the 300SD...

Look forward to your reply. I put a lot of miles on for work-related travel, and I am excited to get things upgraded!

Don

The speakers for the dash are 3 1/2" round speakers and the rear deck has 4x6 speakers.

for the rear deck from what i understand not all 4x6 speakers will fit. here at the shop we used the Kenwood KFC-4675 model and it worked fine and was easy to install. For the front 3 1/2" speakers i would recommend the Infinity Reference 3022cf model. These would be the best suit for your musical preference in my opinion. Any more questions feel free to ask Don. Have a great day.
