For Sale: 1970 Mercedes Benz 250 – Upgraded Driver's Car!

This is a ONE-OWNER 1970 Mercedes Benz 250 4 Speed manual car. The owner is a pilot that really loves his classic Mercedes (he has another one as well) and his aircraft – and enjoys making them better. This one has been mechanically and cosmetically upgraded and refurbished.

While the paint and flames might not be to everyone's liking, the rust free body and much improved driveline certainly are. The original 250 engine has a 280 engine installed that has been thoroughly blueprinted and upgraded. The engine was build using OEM Mercedes parts – oversize higher compression pistons, the highest lift factory camshaft, the cylinder head was gas-flowed for 28% increase in flow. The exhaust manifolds are better flowing 280SE units, the carburetors are upgraded Weber units, and both the intake and exhaust manifolds have been extrude honed and ceramic coated. Everything in the engine was balanced and blueprinted to exacting standards. The ignition was upgraded to a distributor with a slightly more aggressive advance curve with a Pertronix electronic ignition. It also has a custom built cold air intake to the factory air cleaner.

The suspension features firm Bilstein shocks and wider than stock Centra wheels. It steers, brakes and handles much better than most people would ever expect from a Mercedes sedan. The driver's seat has been replaced with a Recaro LX-C and the steering wheel is a Nardi unit. This is a driver's cockpit, with an added tachometer.

The headlights were replaced with Hella H4's and Cibie Iode driving lamps. The transmission has been rebuilt, and the axles were upgraded to the later CV type. It has a custom made rear valence/skirt that completes the rear look of the car very well.

This is a wonderful European sports sedan that is comfortable, performs really well, reliable and certainly eye catching. Surprisingly fun to drive! It has been serviced at the same shop that did the upgrades and rebuilding since 1997. There are tens and tens of thousands of dollars of work in this car.
