Default Possible 190E 2.6 Purchase

Hello All,

I'm a newbie and I need a little help here. Looking at a 89 190E 2.6 with about 250,000 km on board. Looks allright. Drives allright. Doesn't need much for the safety but there are some annoying things.

1) Cold start is rough. Stalls out but eventually warms after about a minute of trying and then runs out clean and smooth. No check engine light. Cold start injector? Location? How to test?

2) Turn signals & hazard lights inop. Fuse is ok. Horn and wiper/washers work if that has anything to do with it. How to test?

Anything else I should be looking for here? Rust is allright. Needs a few other mechanical items that are not too bad. Requisite hood badge stolen. Gotta get one of those if I buy it.

Thanks,

Richard.

Nice buy.

1. Im not sure about your cold start problems. But I can take a stab at it from what I hear from others. You probably need a new cold start valve.

2. If your turn signals & hazards both dont work.....take a look at your hazard switch. Most likely its frozen up or slightly disconnected. Just play with the switch and you should get your turn signals & hazards back. If anything, replace the switch. Easy common problem on these cars.

Other than that, keep up with regular maintenance and you should have a good running car.
