possible 89 190d purchase?
hello folks, new to the mb diesel world. i have a jetta turbo diesel 85 vintage no longer road worthy and wanted to replace it with an 89 190d that i found locally. the car started pretty readily after sitting a month or so but i noticed it had no heat although the control doors moved when i pressed buttons on the hvac unit and it seemed low on coolant. another thing i noticed was that a couple fuel injectors were wet on top and after the car ran for a while it started to sound like a possible compression leak sound under intake manifold accompanied by puffs of smoke not smelling like oil burning off-maybe leaking fuel? the car is spotless underneath and no rust on the body. does $2300 seem like too much for this car? is there a simple way to tell if this mb has a cracked head/blown head gasket?the exhaust only smoked briefly upon starting

If the car is in good shape other than that jump on it.
That small amount out the back is nothing to worry about after setting that long.
Not familiar with the engine layout on a 89 190d so i can say where the smoke could be coming from.

the owner states that there is some sort of one time usable compression fitting?!? poss an injector liner or inset. needing replaced also-it wont shut off with the key he states he'll handle these mattters. dummy forgot to post mileage which is 138,000. I looked up a previous owner via an expired insur card and local directory assistance and she stated her ex husband banged up rt front fender and headlight assembly along with the bumper cover-all of which have been replaced she also stated no winter drivinghere in Pa and the orig owners drove it back and forth to st petersburg fla. what kinda fuel econ should i expect with the 4spd slushbox? i really miss my vw's simplicity dependability and economy.
