Default 190E Coolant overheating / Splashing all over engine

Hi:

I have a 1992 190E. It over heated and the temp reached almost 120, so I stopped and checked the engine and found coolant all over the left side of the engine. I did not find any hose busted and am starting to think that it is the thermostat. Could it be the thermostat? and is it something that I can change myself? Where wouldI be able to find step by step instruction to replacing the thermostat?

Thermostat's are very easy to replaceand cost like $20. It's most likely that, but I've never worked on a 2.6 so I don't know the location.
