Default VPN on Public Wi-Fi

I travel quite a bit for work, so I often end up using Wi-Fi in airports, hotels, or random caf?s. Recently someone told me that open networks can be pretty risky because other people on the same network might intercept data. That got me thinking about VPNs. I?ve heard they can make public Wi-Fi safer, but I?m not sure how effective that actually is. Does it really protect your information, or is it just another extra layer that helps a little?

From my experience, using a VPN on public Wi-Fi definitely helps reduce the risks. What it basically does is encrypt the connection between your device and the internet, so even if someone else is on the same network they can’t easily read the data being transmitted. I started using one after a coworker had an issue while working from a caf? network. Since then I usually turn it on whenever I connect to open Wi-Fi. I’ve been using the secure VPN Toggle for a while because it’s simple to activate and doesn’t require much setup. It’s not a perfect shield, but it’s a practical step that adds a good level of protection when you’re browsing outside your home network.

Things like password managers, two-factor authentication, and privacy tools are becoming more common even among people who aren’t particularly tech-focused. A lot of friends who barely cared about security before are now paying more attention to how their data moves online, especially when they’re using shared networks while traveling or working remotely.
