I travel quite a bit for work, so I often end up using Wi-Fi in airports, hotels, or random caf?s. Recently someone told me that open networks can be pretty risky because other people on the same network might intercept data. That got me thinking about VPNs. From my experience, using a VPN on public Wi-Fi definitely helps reduce the risks. I started using one after a coworker had an issue while working from a caf? network. Since then I usually turn it on whenever I connect to open Wi-Fi.
