Default Suckin' It Up

Are you suckin' it up when it comes to the high gas prices?

Are you taking it out on the minimum wage clerk collecting money?

How do you cope? Non-violently, I hope. DON'T KILL THE OWNER. That only hurts the next guy that needs gas because the station will close, at least temporarily.

Actually, when adjusted for inflation the current prices aren't as high as they've been in past gas "crises." Gee. That don't make me feel any better.

I wanted to make a comment about your list of cars, the 70 Chevelle SS454 with the LS5 ENGINE, is a pretty rare model isn't it? What engine does the 01 vette have the LS1?

The rarest and most expensive '70 Chevelle SS has the LS6 motor.

The LS5 is very streetable and rated at 360 hp. This was actually slightly under-rated. This was normal practice for car manufacturers back then and had to do with insurability. It had no cowl induction, had a cast iron intake manifold, had cast iron exhaust manifolds, smaller cam, lower compression, cast crank, sissy heads, etc.

The LS6 is a drag race motor rated at 450 hp. This is a rock 'n' roll motor that didn't/doesn't handle street driving very well--it overheats quickly and idles wildly. It had cowl induction, aluminum high-rise intake manifold, headers, big cam, high compression, forged crank, manly heads, etc.

Mine has been upgraded with all the performance goodies of an LS6, except for the crank. Dyno runs puts flywheel hp at about 435 hp. It's just as fun to sit at a stop light with the windows shaking as it is to blow cars off the road after I take off.

Chevelle SSs are probably the most "cloned" cars ever. That's why I say mine is a "real LS5." I'm really saying it's a real SS and not a clone. I considered getting the vanity plate NOTACLON, but got RADARB8 instead. It's worth $20,000-$30,000 more than a clone. An LS6 is worth about that much more than an LS5.

The Corvette has the LS1.

... and then, if things weren't bad enough, along comes a hurricane that will cut 30% of our production supply and drive prices up even further. Makes me wish sometimes that I had bought a townhouse in the city instead of a house in the country.

well that "gas prices have to go up because of the hurricane" is a LOAD of crap.

As information concerning gas, Sonoco is the only USA company that does not buy from the Cartel of the middle east.

That's a pretty naive statement. One of denial at best.

The experts disagree with you. Gulf of Mexico oil production and importation.
