Yeah, a lot of folks came out and voted. On the surface, I know that seems like a good thing, but with an overwhelming Shiite majority eventually ruling the roost, how does this not become Iran Jr., one of our real enemies in the neighborhood? Was that the intent all along -- to create another Iran? I mean, this was obvious before this all started, right?

 

Iraq will be nothing like Iran. If it even comes close, it will be because that's what they want--they'll vote for it. Do you understand the difference?

 

Yes, I certainly understand. Do you understand that Shiites are the primary enemy of the U.S. in the Mideast? In effect, we have taken a non-combatant and offered them the possibility of becoming a genuine enemy. A substantial percentage of Iraqi Shiites favor the elimination the Iran/Iraq border altogether. I'm sure you realize that cultures are more important than borders in that part of the world.
