In April 15, 1738, the bottle opener was invented.

Was the bottle opener invented as a solution looking for a problem? How did the inventor know what it was? I mean, how were people opening bottles before April 15, 1738? And why were bottles invented that needed to be opened by an opener before an opener was invented?

I'm going to pop me a cold one and think about this.

Well, you can't use a bottle opener on a cork, so why did someone invent the opener?

i mean they must be using the cork during those times and the bottle opener was like a screw and not for the "cap" which seems to be invented lately.

i grow up in the countryside where the bottle opener happens to be 4 inch nail bent in such a way to serve the purpose.

 

You're talking about a corkscrew. I think the bottle opener was for a cap.

When I was young, one of my friends would remove the caps with his teeth. Just bite it off. That was in the 1970s. I guess no one told him an opener was invented in 1738. I think he has false teeth now.

 

i can use my ring to open bottles....and when in college i could bite them off until i hurt my teeth...
