Hi, I was wondering if Mercedes uses a different type of cooland/antifreeze? Or can i just go to any kragen and buy the 50/50 coolant and put that in? How and where can i put the coolant in? BTW, The car is 1999 e320

Yep they sure do, according to the year of your car. I would suggest you get the anti freeze and a flush for the system from Mercedes. I have a 99 C280, and probably as your car, Mercedes uses a "long life" antifreeze. But I am told it is not like the long life antifreeze you see in the parts stores. I haven't found one yet in retail stores that is OK for Mercedes cars. Don't use the Preston 50/50

 

Thanks for the info. So i cant go anywhere and just buy the coolant and put it in myself. I have to go to mercedes. My coolant level warning just popped up. What type of coolant is it? maybe i can ask aroun and see if i can buy it somewhere?

 

What I thought I said was to go to a dealer a buy a gallon or however it is sold my Mercedes and put it in yourself. Type of coolant, sorry I can't tell you what the formulate is, but I have been told on other boards, not to use anything by Mercedes fluids for our newer cars. I never had to add any antifreeze to my car for the 4 years I've owned it. Do you have a leak? It is a sealed system, either your engine is running very hot and the coolant is evaporating or you have a leak?
