Default Tools for DIYer?

I have been reading the posts and enjoying the articles since joining. I wanted to try cleaning my EGR valve tubes, but when I got under the hood I was faced with some star shaped bolts that I hadn't seen before (my 2000 E320 is my first foreign car). Can someone please offer up some advice for a starter set of MB suitable tools?

The star is on the inside, right? You need a set of Torx drivers. Start with a metric set of five or six that have screwdriver handles.

Actually, on the nuts I was refering to, the stars are on the outside. Bolts holding the air intake ductwork have numerous (more than 6) points to them. I have a set of torx screwdrivers, but these looked to require torx-like sockets. But I was surprised at the number of points on the star. I'll go back and count them, but first guess would be 8-10 points!
