i am looking at buying a car to use for commuting to and from work. i don't know much about mercedes cars and would like some help figuring out what my options would be.

i am thinking an older model would be best, i want a diesel, perferably with a manual transmission.
car must have a full frame, a unibody vehicle is unacceptable to me
i am 6'4" and a medium build, i must beable to fit in the car fairly comfortably.
i am a pretty good back yard mechanic and like to do most repairs myself, so a car that is fairly simple to work on would be a big plus.
because i would be using the car for commuting exclusivly, the better the fuel mileage the better.

hopefully someone with knowledge of these cars can point me in the right direction as far as what my options are
