Question SL500 Mercedes

SL500 Mercedes / Check Engine Light on
Hi I have a 1999 SL 500 Mercedes. I put gas in last night and noticed my check engine light was on today. I then recaped the gas tank but the check engine light won't go off. How do I reset this.

Thank you
Ann

I had the same problem with my 560sl. I took it in to the dealer and they said it was a sensor that picked up engine knock...."WHAT" I asked back. If you get a low quality gas or a lower octane level it will do this. How much did you put in? I put in a half tank at the time and they said they could pump it out for $400 (NO). So I went to a reputable station and put 93 octane in the rest of the tank. I noticed the light came off and zero trouble from then on. Hope this helped.

it will go off after a set amout of drive cycles/ ignition start ups... no big deal. you can go to an auto supply store and they might be able to clear it for you if it bothers you that much
