Hi All, just purchased my first MB (S280, Badged S500, fully specced, Jet Gloss Black, Looks the Business!), 4 weeks ago now. Going great until today. Had a lovely Alpine CDA_9831R installed, and now my central locking, door locks, ignition has stopped functioning. Oh Great, got to grin and bear it until Tuesday ![Frown](https://mercedesforum.com/forum/images/smilies/frown.gif)
Hope I can learn a thing ot two from you guys and the forum.

Probably in the aftermarket installation something is not compatible or wasn't connected correctly.
I hear this alot when folks try and do aftermarket sound systems in modern MB's. Unless the installer really knows these cars electrical systems, it can be a mess.

Hi There C280, many thanks for the reply on this.
Well I actually paid the auto electrician £70 to install the head unit, believing in this case there would be no problems. My S has the green/red lights in the door handles, which are working when the remote is used, however the door pins are not operating. I can only think that the installer has severed a cable behind the head unit which actually provides current to the central locking mechanism. However seem as I cannot locate a W140 wiring diagram, I cannot be sure. The only other possibility is that the head unit has caused excessive heat at the rear of the unit, and caused a cable meltdown? It's darn annoying though, he should be back tuesday to fix, hopefully at his own cost. I have to lock the drivers side with key, unlock with same key, then start the car with that key also, in order to get the car to start, presumably the engine immobiliser is causing that little hiccup?

Mercedes Benz has a website where you can download all the diagrams , wiring, etc for most of their cars, and for a price. But a good shop that says they can work on these cars, should have the proper diagrams IMHO. The old ways of using a volts testers and meters are long gone. I'll search out the email address for this site I mentioned. 70 pounds is around $140 US?
Cheerio!
