Hi I am a new member and am just in the middle of getting my first merc, a C180 Estate 1.8 auto 1998. I hope to be paying and picking up this week end. It has service history and has done 114000 miles. what are the Cam belt changes and mile between service. also is it better to use synthetic. I bought it for £4500.00
hopefully the exchange will go well and all papers as the advertisment said. But any tips on owning one of these cars is most welcome. I do believe that mercs are a better class of vehicle than most.

 

I dont think Mercedes have ever used cam belts only chains so no routing change required. They recommend fully synthetic oil for all later engines, I use a 5W/40 Chevron from CostCo its only £12.00 for 4 litres.
