New to this forum. I have owned a '99 ML320 until a few months ago. Also own a '00 ML430 since '01. Many miles put on both. I figure I can give some decent advise and would like to learn more.

I've been looking for a ML for my wife, a 99 or 00, but I hear horro stories about these cars for both of these years. Mostly quality issues, True or False.

my '99 was a good vehicle. it had some issues, but nothing major. I would recommend a 2000 or newer, since MB made many improvements with quality and workmanship. The ML430 is a bit of a gas hog, but the power is nice. The ML320 has sufficient power, unless you're towing or constantly travel with a decent load. i've had great luck with my 2000 ML430. it's a good size, handles well (I modified it w/Bilstein shocks), and is very comfortable. The larger wheels/tires on the ML430 definately improve the ride compared with the ML320. Also, the stock Dunlop tires suck. Definately recommend Michelin replacement tires.
