I have a 1971 280 SE base model W108.018 that was ordered and delivered to someone that had a NATO affiliation. It was built as a US spec car but has a 4 - speed manual floor shift.
From the data card the Auftrags-Nr. is 04010361 which as I have been able to ascertain decodes as follows - "0" is ordered in 1970 "401" is affiliated with NATO dealer code. But the "0361" must be the dealer location itself and I can find no information about it.
Clues anyone?

This sounds really interesting, keep us posted on what you learn. Let's see some photos of the car though

 

The car is not with me as it is being mechanically refurbished to be a daily driver. Previous owner did little to maintain it mechanically, instead focused on appearances. I on the other hand intend to drive the hell out of it. Pictures will be available in a month or so.
