Default Hi New Owner of a 1983 300D

After missing out on TDI deals and not wanting to go to the Corolla/Civic route for a daily driver, I spotted a 1983 300D and I am now a wise owner of a classic car that I just found out is surprisingly easy to fix. Affordable too except for the tranny it seems.

I have experience with PowerCroak trucks (we have one and owned 1 in the past) and the MB diesel is simplicity at its best. Found this forum and thank you for the wealth of information I have already found.

This Benz is from NY and I am guessing from Suffolk county so not rust free even though I am living in New Mexico. But looks like it was maintained well. Started right up and blasted up to Santa Fe holding 90 mph with a bit more I thought. I was surprised but backed off to 70-75 mph, except for the really steep "La Bajada" section of I-25. Not bad.

This is a favorite hippie car in Northern New Mexico for the possibility of WVO. I am looking forward towards the oppurtunity to do it later down the road.

Thanks about the WVO comment. It is a lot of stuff to add to the car.

I just found that we have Bio diesel available in town for pretty competitive price. Tried it on the truck once, but my friend moved along with his setup.
