Default Hello Everybody!

What's up? My name is Cody. I've always been interested in German auto's, but have only just recently taken interest in the Mercedes-Benz... I was driving by a mom and pop Mercedes-Garage, and they had an 84' 190D sitting out front... I just had to give it a drive. Over the past years I have gotten used to all the rattles and jitters associated with my 91 Jetta TDiesel. All of which are non-existent in this MB. It was so quiet, and the ride was so incredible, it actually kind of freaked me out!!! I've had my eye on the Mercedes-Benz for some time, and all of them I seem to find are all automatics... This has only really been the real thing that has kept me away from MB... 95% of them are all automatic. I personally find the manual transmission the one and only point that really connects a driver to the vehicle in more than just a platonic way... I love my Volkswagens to death... But I've since grown older, and want a much finer ride than this VW's.... So anyway, back to the 190D story... I just had to give it a drive... I pull over and go look inside, and the interior was nothing but a gleam in my eye... As I looked around the cabin, I noticed it was a MANUAL!!! ahhhhhhhhhh!!!! A Mercedes-Diesel with a manual tranny... Basically my dream car... As I drove this fine piece of German Engineering, I notice how freaking superior this NINETEEN EIGHTY FOUR MB is to my mothers brand new Ford Taurus.... Anyway, just thought I would introduce myself to the crowd... You guys probably get this question alot, but I have to ask... Just wondering what I might be looking for in a Mercedes as far as problems go. I looked up the blue book of this car, and it's worth less than 1,000 dollars! This could very well be the perfect car for me. It's got the W209 body style, or whatever, which I am very attracted to. What problems would I be looking for in a 19 year old MB with 136,000 miles on it? The paint is faded, and some of the trim is falling off, or is missing, but that can be replaced with ease... It has 2 power windows, and manual locks, no A/C... I think this had to be the cheapest MB you coudl get at the time, but its definatly a step up to what I've been driving for the past few years.
