4-yr warranty question
My four-year warranty expires soon (2000 CLK 2000). The warranty offered 4 servicings in four years or within 50,000 miles, whichever comes first. I only have 33,000 miles on the car and I have only logged 3,000 miles since my previous (third) servicing about 10 months ago. Here's my issue: The dealer (RAB in Marin) says I cannot take advantage of the fourth and final servicing under warranty because I have not driven enough miles (about 3,000) since my last servicing , and that the manufacturer will not accept and reimburse for the cost. Does anybody have experience with this? Thanks
A dealer can't refuse you service, under their contract, push the issue with them. MBUSA and your dealer are cheap. Tell them you will get a lawyer, as they have no legal leg to stand on. If you read the warranty it is a time and distance warranty and I'm sure you have passed the time period between services. These dealers are such liars. It makes me sick
Yes, tell them you will get a lawyer, I did that for my son' friend who had a accidend, someone rearended him. His insurance agent told him he had to go to the repair shop the insurance company recommends. I called the agent and told them my son's friend are hired a lawyer and is filing a lawsuit against them and the insurance company. In Mass the the law says you can take you car for body repair to any shop, but the insurance company doesn't have to guarantee the work if the shop is not on the preferred list, Key words: doesn't have to, (but can and usually does, unless it it flight by night auto body) and the approved list is made up by the insurance companies. Kickbacks I bet. Conclusion of story the agent apologized and said it was a misunderstanding.
