2002 sl500
#2
Hi
Hi Mark, I have also joined this forum very recently.
I occasionally get the same message, about once per month or so (I have a 2000 SL500 with the Bose system), even though I removed the CD changer long ago and replaced it with an iPod converter device.
The only thing that I've found that fixes it is to shut the car off, count to 3, and restart the engine. I suspect it's a bizarre electrical glitch in my case, or that wouldn't work every time.
If it's happening to you constantly, rather than just one in a while, have you tried checking for fraying or disconnet in the wiring harness that leads from it? You can see more of the wiring on teh driver's side with the top half-raised.
Good luck!
