Vibration when decelerating

Vibration when decelerating
I have a '99 SLK 230 with 159k miles which has always run very smoothly. Over the past month, there is a farily loud vibration (I can feel it on my feet as well) that seems to come from the front-left side of the car when I decelerate (ie take my foot off the brake) while going 60-80mph. If I accelerate, it goes away immediately and drives smooth as silk. If I disengage the clutch, the sound goes away immediately as well. It would seem that something is loose, but I have no idea what.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I search for "vibration" in this forum but found nothing related.
Thanks much,
Sam

RE: Vibration when decelerating
Hi all,
Just for purposes of expanding the knowledge base here, I wanted to post what the issue turned out to be. I brought my vehicle to a local mechanic and he tested it and found it was the engine mounts (they were broken somehow). He replaced both of them ($120 each) plus $130 labor--so not too painful at all. The car runs and idles like a dream now--amazing. Can't even tell the engine's on when at idle, before it was pretty bad--the hood even vibrated, and if I turned on the a/c, it got much worse. All fixed with new engine mounts. Just an FYI.
Thanks,
Sam
