Default 2000 ML320 dies randomly while going down steep hills or decelerating.

Hello, First post here. Saw a few similar posts when I searched but nothing with exactly the same problem.

My 2000 ML320 dies occasionally while going down steep hills or decelerating.

Afterwards it won't start unless I do the "Electronics Reset" by switching the ignition to position 2 for 60 seconds then position 0 for 10 seconds then starting the car.

This started happening last week and has been getting far more frequent.

The last few times this has happened the reset did not work right away. I had to wait about 10 minutes (I assume to let the engine cool down) before the reset would start the car.

My buddy has an OBD2 reader I plan to hook up to tomorrow to check to see if there are any codes stored which will aid in the troubleshooting.

Thanks in advance.

Here's a link to all the error codes pulled from the ECU.

New data:

It won't restart for at least 20 min after it dies. I'm thinking that it might be stalling out when it dies.

does that help?

Possible crank sensor or fuel pump it looks like. I'll have to carry around some tools with me so I can check for spark the next time it happens.

looks like it was the crank sensor. I had it replaced for $80 total and it seems to be working fine now.

This is the worst forum I've ever seen.

I didn't get any help from you, no suggestions or links.

What's up with that?

LOL, I seen your post above. I hope I get better help.

I ordered a crank shift positioning sensor for mine. I'll let you know if it solves my problem.
