How do I tell if my 99 Kompressor is supercharged? I checked the VIN, but that only gives the engine size.

 

I'd like to say "that" helped, but it didn't. I followed the belt pattern to where the pulley for the supercharger should be and that answered my question.

Yes, I speak German fluently... thank you for explaining the that the name of the car was based on the induction system. However, when I bought the car, it was my understanding that all Kompressors were supercharged. I asked the dealer if this one was, and he said no(?) So, I wanted to check to make sure, since I noticed several items had been removed... like the lower grill insert, the front skirt, the cd changer...

 

Kompressor and supercharger are the same thing...
