Hey I just purchased a 1998 slk 230. The car has been great so far. I am having a problem though. I took the car to the MB dealer to have the rear brake light recall a few days after i got it home the rear windows will not go up after the top has been raised. The top goes all the way to it's position, but it doesn't stop making noise and the rear windows don't raise. Also, the light stays on? The dealer seems to think that it is some micro switch replaced or adjusted to the tune of 290 bucks. Anyone have any experience with this?

 

the switch in question is located where the right top guide pin goes in just above andto the right side side of the right visor. you can see it if you look. to replace, remove the visors and pull straight back on the trim, DO NOT pull down. easy as pie as long as you don't separate the clips from the trim by pulling down on it. However, you can glue them back on easy enough. $290 seems a bit much for a 1/2 hr job.
